French provision at Brackenfield School
A highlight of this academic year was the Year 5&6 trip to France including sightseeing in Paris, a day in Disneyland, visiting museums and Amiens cathedral. As well as immersing our pupils in another culture, the trip enables the pupils to practice their spoken French.
French is delivered at Brackenfield by a specialist teacher from Nursery to Year 6. Learning a language isn’t only that, it has proven benefits for peoples’ brain health building agile, versatile thinkers as well as laying brilliant foundations for picking up other languages.
Aside from the obvious benefits of being able to converse whilst holidaying abroad, learning a second language has been proven to sharpen the memory, support problem-solving skills and even better, widen job opportunities.
