Brackenfield challenges trend across educational sector of offering fewer school trips by taking Year 4 for adventurous residential in Yorkshire Dales

Brackenfield's Year 4 have recently enjoyed an exhilarating and bonding residential trip to Bewerley Park in the Yorkshire Dales

Brackenfield School is fully committed to providing an outstanding educational experience for its pupils. Challenging the increasing trend across the educational sector of offering fewer school trips, our intrepid Year 4 pupils recently visited Bewerley Park. This fantastic base for outdoor adventures in the Yorkshire Dales National Park provided the setting for an exhilarating and bonding experience.

This annual event is so much more than simply a trip; it is a carefully considered investment in our pupils’ personal development, designed to build resilience, foster independence, and strengthen their appreciation of the great outdoors.

Demonstrating exactly why Outdoor Learning is one of Brackenfield’s key mission areas, pupils were able to learn not only about the outdoors but within it; developing a deeper understanding of nature and the natural environment.

With an abundance of activities, including kayaking and gorge walking, this was the perfect opportunity for pupils to learn beyond the classroom. They developed key Brackenfield values: showing kindness in supporting one another, perseverance in challenging weather, confidence in their abilities, and respect for each other.
